ELPIS Association is actively involved in a fundraising campaign to garner support for “Cristian Serban” Medical Center for Evaluation and Rehabilitation for Children and Youth Buzias, in Timis county, which was damaged by a fire that completely destroyed the roof and the top floor of the central building, in May 2012.

The Center was built exclusively from donations and sponsorships and then became part of the public health system so that more and more patients could benefit from free medical care. Unique in Romania and even in Eastern Europe, it could provide treatment for more than 500 children and young people diagnosed with diabetes and hemophilia annually. As the fire caused significant damage, estimated at more than 300,000 euros, the Center is currently functioning in improvised conditions and can accommodate only 50 patients in the adjacent edifices.

The restoration work has already begun with the reroofing of the main building, which is absolutely necessary to prevent further damage caused by rain and storms. Willing to give a helping hand, ELPIS Association has initiated its own fundraising campaign, so that Cristian Serban” Medical Center for Evaluation and Rehabilitation for Children and Youth Buzias can begin to function again to its maximum capacity and in optimal conditions, as soon as possible.
